NJ State Leadership Conference

Every year, more than 700 members gather for the crowning conference dedicated to NJ FCCLA members, the NJ FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Members are able to demonstrate skills and display projects, while enjoying the inspirational messages of motivational speakers. At the NJ FCCLA State Leadership Conference a wide array of State and National Competitive events are offered to members. Members will have the opportunity to listen to captivating speakers, attend informative workshops and exciting sessions, participate in service projects, and compete in state and national competitive events. Members are able to network throughout the conference and enjoy the fun night at Club FCCLA, which includes activities like a dance, movie, and more! The number of opportunities provided at NJ FCCLA State Leadership Conference is astounding! National Fall Conference

The National Organization of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) offers one Fall Conference that is usually held in November for members and advisers. This year the conference will be provided virtually for $150 per chapter. The vLE will provide an opportunity for students and advisers to come together virtually for fun and to listen to inspiring speakers, as well as to expand leadership skills, sharpen talents and explore career pathways. One focus of the meeting for the members is college and career readiness. This meeting provides on-site career tours, college exhibits and workshops dedicated to college and career readiness. Skill demonstration events will also be held prior to the conference, featuring students participating in a wide variety of competitive activities. Events include several oratory and FCCLA-specific knowledge competitions, demonstrations of college and career-ready skills in Family and Consumer Sciences, and exhibitions of culinary food art and knife skills. FCCLA is "Beyond Measure!"

Every November the New Jersey delegation of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America begins the year with an exciting and dynamic conference. New and returning chapters gather for the Fall leadership Connection, which includes informative round tables, engaging motivational speakers, state competitive events, and two energetic leadership sessions dedicated to chapter leaders. NJ FCCLA encourages members to participate in their various community service initiatives. The Cupcake Challenge is a fall competitive event and fundraiser for Share our Strength; members are able to buy delicious cupcakes baked by NJ FCCLA members and support Share our Strength. NJ Fall Leadership Connection is a great way to kick starts the school year!


The NJ FCCLA Leadership Boot Camp, held in early January, is a leadership training experience offered to all NJ FCCLA members and advisers. The NJ FCCLA Leadership Boot Camp has two tracks for students to strengthen their leadership skills- the sergeant track is for first-time attendees and the lieutenant track is for returning attendees. Both tracks cover numerous exciting leadership topics and activities, such as public speaking, time management, communication, team building, and more! Chapter advisers receive professional development and are able to enhance their skills and knowledge pertaining to the responsibilities of serving as an FCCLA chapter adviser. In addition to leadership development, members and advisers from across the state are able to network with one another. This year, for only $35, members receive an incredible Virtual Leadership Training Experience, Leadership Boot Camp t-shirt and leadership materials!

 

National Leadership Conference

June 29-July 3, 2024

This National Leadership Conference held in July is the pinnacle of FCCLA involvement. More than 7,000 members, advisers, alumni, and guests of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America gathered for the National Leadership Conference. This five-day student-oriented conference encourages members to examine and discuss critical issues, including family, school and community violence prevention, physical, as well as financial fitness, future career exploration and countless community service projects. Over 3,600 students compete in STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) which are competitive events that build proficiency and achievement in leadership and job-related skills. In addition, students’ spotlight and share successful projects built on the National Programs. The national conference is rotated throughout the four regions of the country and allows members to experience first-hand the regional differences in the United States and take in tourist attractions in those regions. The National Leadership Conference is a memorable experience and a fantastic opportunity for all members and advisers!

Capitol Leadership

In the fall, FCCLA members and advisers are usually invited to attend Capitol Leadership in Washington, D.C.. This year it has been postponed. During Capitol Leadership, students received training focusing on networking, professionalism, strategic planning, and advocacy around key teen-centered current issues. Students will advocate for Family and Consumer Sciences and Career and Technical Education by showing policy makers how their support for education impacts teens in preparing to be college- and career- ready. An important aspect of Capitol Leadership features today's teens meeting with their representatives on Capitol Hill to explain the importance of continued support for the Strengthening Career and Technical Education Act. This conference is perfect for State and Local Chapter Officers.
